There were two Eddy immigrant brothers, John Eddy of Watertown and Samuel Eddy of Plymouth and Swansea, whose lives and ancestry back to England are very well documented. They were old enough to be father or uncle to John of Taunton. There has been no relationship found between John Eddy of Taunton and these two Eddy brothers, although John Eddy of Taunton married Susanna Padduck, whose sister married one of the sons of Samuel Eddy of Plymouth and Swansea. It is virtually a certainty he is not a son of either of the Eddy brothers, but a kinship of some type may have existed between them. (See Anderson, The Great Migration Begins, 1995, Eddy sketches)
Spouses:
2) Deliverance Owen, May 01, 1672, daughter of William and Elizabeth
(Davis) Owen, of Braintree, Norfolk Co, Mass. She had eight children with
John. He died in 1695, leaving her a widow with at least ten children,
including her step-children, aged from one to 29. She married, second,
Nathaniel Smith of Weymouth, and died May 03, 1726, in Norton, Bristol
Co, Mass.
Immigration: Unknown. First
appears as an adult in Taunton, Mass. May have been an immigrant, or the
son, of an earlier, unidentified, immigrant. If he was a stand-alone immigrant,
he likely arrived single and after the Great Migration of 1630-1650. It
is interesting to note that there was a Scottish Eddy early in New Jersey.
The Scots came over after the Great Migration, as prisoners from the English
wars. (See Forbush and Bruce pages at this site.)
Residence: The Eddy Genealogy identifies some records of a John Eddy, which cannot be for John of Martha's Vineyard and thought to be for John of Taunton. So, he was probably in Plymouth first, then moved to Taunton, Mass, where he lived and died.
Death: November 27, 1695, (AAP), aged approximately 55.
Estate: Inventory of his Estate sworn to by widow Deliverance, Dec. 14, 1695. Aug. 12, 1696. Estate divided, "To Deliverance Eddy, wife, and her son Jonathan and two of her daughters, Susanna and Patience, to Ebenezer, eldest son, Eleazer, second son, Joseph, Mary Reed, [sic: Rood/Ruud per Torrey?] eldest daughter, Mercy Fisher, second daughter, and Hannah." Jonathan Eddy Genealogy, Pg 32
Children Notes: Note that Savage lists four children not in the will: John, Benjamin, Abigail, and Patience (born posthumously). John may have died young. Benjamin and Abigail are names of children of John2, son of Samuel1, of Martha's Vineyard and I think Savage mixed them up. Patience was posthumous, which explains her not being in the will.
Since she was born seven months after her father died, he may not even have known his wife was pregnant. See a list of children below.
The Eddy Brothers - the "other guys"
The Eddy Genealogy, 1930, is a respected work on this family:
Errors in Earlier Genealogies
John Eddy of Taunton, Mass was a separate man from John Eddy, son of Samuel, who lived and died in Martha's Vineyard, Mass. (See TGMB, Eddy Genealogy, Banks work on Martha's Vineyard.)
I have not found an "authoritative" list for the children of John Eddy, other than the eight named in his will. (See above). The others are from Savage and may have died young.

William Eddye is not a (known) ancestor/kin of John of Taunton. I add a link to his biography in the Eddy Genealogy, provided by the Eddy Family Association, for whatever it's worth.
