Grant Kinships

Arthur Baldwin, son of Kansas Pioneer Henry Gilbert Baldwin, is sixth cousin, once removed, from Ulysses S. Grant through our common Tracy/Partridge ancestral couple George and Sarah (Tracy) Partridge. Arthur Baldwin is also sixth cousin, once removed, via our common Lathrop ancestral couple, John and Hannah (House) Lathrop. To position yourself from Ulysses, just add "removed" generations that you are from Arthur Baldwin.

President Grant is also a cousin to Franklin Delano Roosevelt (through a common Huntington and Delano ancestors) and Grover Cleveland and Gerald Ford (through a common Porter ancestor), as well as Millard Fillmore, through a common White ancestor, who is also an ancestor for Cleveland and Ford), Calvin Coolidge (through a common Capen ancestor), and George Bush (through a common Lathrop ancestor. His "namesake" line immigrant ancestor was Matthew Grant, immigrated circa 1630-31, a freeman at Dorchester, Maass on 18 May 1631; so, his "surnname" ancestor was among the earliest of American immigrants. As a result, you have a lot of opportunities for a common blood line with him.
