Read the story about the ship owned by a Harvey Knowlton that was seized by the Canadian government !! Captain Knowlton masterminded a scheme to recapture his ship and it worked! A great story! I don't know which branch this Harvey is in. The Home Page for Gloucester history, where some of our Knowltons moved to, has a bunch of stories about fishing and Gloucester. Gloucester is the oldest fishing port on the east coast.
The Knowlton's were early settlers, circa 1640, to Ipswich, Massachusetts in Essex County.
