It is possible he has a kinship with the immigrant Fisher brothers, Anthony and Joshua. He is not covered in the Anthony and Joshua Fisher Genealogy. I've also seen a theory, which is unproven, as far as I know (if not disproven) that Daniel Fisher, son of Anthony, of Dedham; is the same man as Daniel Fisher of Taunton; and that Hannah Hill was a second wife. That theory sure seems like a stretch to me.
Immigration: By 1660, if he is an immigrant. He may be the son of an immigrant.
Spouse: Hannah Hill, abt 1662
(first born 1663, Torrey), in probably Dorchester, Suffolk Co, Mass. She
was born in 1641 (Torrey, Savage) in Dorchester, Suffolk Co, Mass to John
and Frances (__) Hill. Death date unknown to me, but if she was mother
to all the children, at least after 1681.
"18: 12: 71. Hannah gradafter of ye widdow Hill, wif to one ffisher dismissed to Joyne to ye Church at Tanton" From the church records of Dorchester, transcribed in The History of Peter Parker and Sarah Ruggles, Pg 534-5.
Residences:
A birth record of a Daniel Fisher, born December 22, 1663 in Dorchester,
Suffolk Co, Mass is a probable son of his. This town is where we know his
wife to be from. It is likely they spent their first year or so here. If
the above church record is his wife, they would have moved to Taunton before
1671. Records of the rest of the children begin in Taunton in 1666. Torrey
shows: Dorchester/Taunton/Norwich. I have not located any information yet
as to why Torrey is referring to Norwich, Conn as a residence for him.
Death: I have no information.
Estate/Will: I have no information.
His children are listed in: Edgar H. Reed, "Marriages, Births and
Deaths at Taunton, Mass., from
the Proprietors' Records" in The New England Historical and Genealogical
Register, XVI (Boston: NEHGS, 1862), p. 327.
Geography Notes:
Four of the sons of Daniel and Hannah (Hill) Fisher moved onto Norton, Bristol Co, Mass, a few miles from their birth town.
See the
History of Norton,Mass, from the History of Bristol Co, Mass, 1883,
which mentions the brothers, of which the following are excerpts:
"May 23, 1715, the town "voted to pay three half-pence a head for every flying blackbird or Jaw's head that shoald be kild in this town, and the heads brought to the selectmen, or John Smith or Eliezer fisher, between this time and next March.""
"Samuel Fisher was the son of Daniel and Hannah Fisher, of Taunton,
and was born 3d December, 1669. Eleazer Fisher
was the brother of Samuel, and was born 12th May, 1673. Israel Fisher was
born 27th March, 1680, and is supposed to have settled near his brothers,
Samuel and Eleazer. He was one of the original members of the church. Nathaniel
Fisher was a brother of those just mentioned, and was born 9th February,
1681. He probably lived near Barrowsville."
After three generations in Norton, Edmund and Ruth (Willis) Fisher
moved their family to Vermont. He lived in Halifax, Vermont; while his
son, Nehemiah went on to Marlboro, Vermont. See material on our
Fishers in Vermont. (Marlboro, VT is abt 137 miles northeast of Norton,
Mass.)
