John Elderkin seems to have traveled a bit during his lifetime in America, with stints in Lynn, Mass 1637, Reading, Mass 1646, Providence, Rhode Island 1648, New London, Conn 1651, Norwich, Conn 1664. He was a builder. A bridge was named after him and the Franklin Church history discusses the history of the Franklin, Conn church building that he built.
Immigration: 1637, possibly with first wife Abigail [Kingsland/Kingsland?] and possibly with first two children. The estimated dates of birth for the two oldest are 1634 and 1636.
Residences: Lynn 1637 > Dedham 1641 > Reading 1646 > Possibly Providence, RI for awhile > New London, Conn 1651 > Norwich > 1660 (Per Savage)
Spouses:
2) Elizabeth Drake, about 1660, widow of William Gaylord and daughter of John Drake. He would have been about 44, she about 39. John and Elizabeth then had five children over the next approximate twelve years through 1672. This would mean she had her second family from when she was 39 to age 51. She survived her husband by twenty-nine years. She died June 18, 1716, in probably Norwich, New London, Conn with a stated age of 95. This age is likely a bit exaggerated, based on it giving her an age of 51 when having her youngest son. That is possible, but it's probably more likely the age is exaggerated.
It should be noted that when Elizabeth Drake married William Gaylord,
he was a widower with six children. She then had two children with him.
She then married John Elderkin, who likely had three children already.
She then had five with John Elderkin. This means she was the natural mom
of seven and the step-mom of nine more, for a total of sixteen. Her two
children probably went with her into the Elderkin household. Not sure if
the Gaylord kids lived with the Elderkins, or other kin, or were old enough
to go on their own.
Death: June 23, 1687, aged
about 71, Norwich, New London Co, Conn
Will/Estate: I haven't seen any references to a will for him.
I show, admittedly mostly from older sources (primarily Savage), the following children of John, coming from two wives. If there is more current information available, would like to hear about it. I have not yet seen the publication under Resources below.

Where does the identity of the first wife come from? Savage didn't know her last name. Web pages showing Abigail Kingsland, Torrey shows Kingslane?. Were they married in England, or is she from another immigrant family?
Is child Hannah from the first wife or second wife? She isn't in
Savage's list of kids from the second wife, but she didn't marry till 1664,
per Torrey.
